Tara Lattimore is a therapist under the supervision of Elizabeth Newsom, LCSW-S. She works with adults (age 18+).
She is Australian-American, bisexual, and grew up overseas in Jakarta, Indonesia. Tara studied acupuncture and herbal medicine in Austin and China, earning her doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM). She has studied and treated in a variety of settings as an acupuncturist, including graduate schools, clinics, and hospitals over the past decade. While specializing in oncology, rheumatology, and chronic pain, she often received referrals for patients experiencing anxiety while navigating the medical system—an experience that inspired her to pursue a social work degree to provide mental health support for those with chronic illness.
Although she no longer practices acupuncture and herbal medicine full-time, Tara holds a current license through the Texas Medical Board and incorporates tools from her training, such as acupressure for stress reduction and mindfulness practices like Qigong. Her goal is to provide kind, culturally competent, and gender-affirming care rooted in empathy and compassion. She draws from therapeutic modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS or “Parts work”), somatic therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Her additional specialties include working with clients experiencing chronic pain and autoimmune complications, international clients, individuals who identify as Third Culture Kids (TCKs), members of the polyamorous and ENM communities, and those who are childfree by choice.
Tara lives in Central Texas with her husband and three dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, reading, painting, traveling, board games, and playing Dungeons & Dragons.
