Hi there! My name is Christopher (he/him) and I am an LMSW therapist at Realistic Expectations, PLLC, under the supervision of Dr. De'An Roper, LCSW-S. I have experience working with youth in schools, foster care shelters for adolescents, and drug/alcohol harm reduction programs at the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to providing therapy, I am currently on the LGBTQ+ clinical subcommittee of NAADAC (a national organization of substance use counselors), where we determine standards for substance use counselors on how to best provide for LGBTQ+ clients. I am honored to serve LGBTQ+ folks as a proud member of the queer community myself.
I have a passion for working with adolescents through the roller coaster of life transitions, as well as helping adolescents and adults tap into their autonomy, self-love, find their strengths, and accomplish their goals. I especially love working with folks on harm reduction, which is basically helping people determine how to do what they want to do (whether that be coming out, building community, sexual exploration, drug use, etc.) to their own level of comfort and safety at their own pace. Harm reduction isn't about convincing someone to be completely abstinent, but about helping them make their own informed decisions.
I believe everyone has the right to determine their own path in life. I provide a collaborative and open approach to therapy without any judgement. You are in the driver's seat and determine what the destination is. I'm just in the passenger's seat with a stack of maps, helping you find your path.
Finding a therapist you click with isn't always easy and sometimes takes some work to find a good match. If any of this resonated with you, reach out! I offer free 15 minute consultations to see if I'm the right fit for you.
Whenever you're ready, let's take this journey together.
