Educator/Presenter
As a little kid, I was constantly torn between being a teacher/astronaut/veterinarian and a lawyer/doctor/teacher. And as the oldest of 6 kids, teaching has always been something I've been drawn to. About 8 years ago, a colleague of mine was picking my brain about working with kinky folx and they really felt I needed to start teaching my peers about it. Then I came across research conducted by NCSF in which reported that nearly 40% of respondents identifying as kinky/ENM, had felt discriminated against by their mental health provider. FORTY PERCENT! I didn't want to believe those numbers however after considering the experiences I'd had working on in-patient mental health units, psych ER's and in simply acknowledging the populations I worked with, I knew I HAD to start sharing my knowledge. That year I presented at the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA), PolyDallas Millenium and was invited to speak about BDSM and sexual assault to law enforcement. Since then I've presented at several state, national and international professional conferences, as well as for multiple community life style conferences.
