“Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up for yourself” ~ Brene Brown
I am Tamera Wright, LCSW. I have worked in mental health for the last 6.5 years. I completed my undergraduate studies at Alabama A&M University and my graduate studies at UT Arlington with a concentration in mental health and substance abuse. I bring a vast degree of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and the local communities to provide counseling services to individuals suffering from mood, anxiety and eating disorders. I have extensive experience working with at-risk and incarcerated youth, with a substantial part of working with diverse populations with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics in acute and behavioral health settings.
My goal as a therapist is to operate from empathy and compassion to assist you in self-discovery and acceptance. Utilizing proven therapeutic techniques, I will support you in addressing issues and emotions you may be too ashamed to express, building your self-esteem and identifying that authenticity is a choice. I believe having an open mind, being a secret friend, and a pillar in your journey can be essential in helping you snatch your power back and be in tune with who you are presently. I am an advocate of having grace with yourself during this time of self-identity through self-awareness, self-care, self-love and self-compassion.
